The Present work deals with the history of Indian music beginning from the Indus Valley Civilization. It sheds light on the music of the Vedic and Epic ages as well as that found in the Buddhist and Jain sources. Tamil sources, Natyasastra, Pauranic sources etc. It impart information on the forms of musical instruments prevalent during those times. The work also tries to ascertain whether Indian music was subjected to foreign influences or not .
